Steve's Christmas Brunch

I made it to the Christmas Brunch that is before Thanksgiving due to all the Terminals they have to travel to, and Mike wants to be at all of them. It was a touching speech that he gave, he talked about the accident that one of the new owner operator's (2 weeks) hit a school bus......1 little one died and the rest were hurt but physically will be ok in time but mentally....who knows. All because the driver didn't have enought sleep.....people were hero's stopping to help pull children out of the bus...... Steve's Company who had good safety rules have put in place a lot of safety rules and the computer knows how long they drive. If they don't take their break the computer starts beeping and if they were to ignore it they call. It means your job if you don't run correctly and I am sure glad, Safety first. I think that was the worse accident since 1980. Mike and his wife went to the funeral and he said if you want reality, then see the Mom and Dad and all the family.....at their daughters funeral...all because the driver didn't sleep enough, trying to make money, Like Mike said you can make money driving legally and not endangering people. People are so much more important.
Not a dry eye in the house. Mine are still wet! Comtrack has always been proud of their safety record. I have always been afraid of big trucks, My Grandmother and Aunt Millie Sue got killed on Christmas Eve 1960. The guy ran a red light trying to get home for Christmas. So trucks accidents really touch me. I didn't want Steve to drive OTR but sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
I didn't get to sit on Santa's knee so you will have to do without the pictures! Ha ha!

What a heart touching post. How those parents must be suffering. It’s good that his company monitors the drivers. All truck drivers should have to do this. Have a great day!

I was in tears, we must all count our blessings each day and remember what is truly important! Hope you have a great week!

My goodness. That is sobering isn't it. I agree with Bama Belle - it makes us count our blessings.

Oh that is so sad. Ive never understood how truckers could put in such long hours to begin with. How sad that he was trying to get home for Christmas. That just hurts my heart! I hope the family of the little one that died find peace this season.
